As the world begins to open up again, and the prospect of dining out is most certainly on the menu there really are ample amazing restaurants to visit in London. But rarely do you find somewhere that is home to so many delicious and unique eateries all in one place, enter Bloomberg Arcade – potentially one of the world’s best foodie destinations. Set in the heart of London’s Square Mile, Bloomberg Arcade caters for busy city-slickers in search of a great place to meet over lunch to friends looking to get together over an amazing meal. Not only is there a depth to its restaurants that is hard to find elsewhere, but whatever you’re into, and whichever cuisine you are craving – you can rest assured that you’ll find it at Bloomberg Arcade, host to nine of the city’s best restaurants sampling the finest global cuisine.
Take for example Brigadiers, inspired by the army mess bars of India, where military regiments go to eat, drink and socialise, this restaurant offers food that has been cooked using a variety of Indian barbecue methods – the result? Mouth-wateringly delicious dishes that you’ll remember for a long time after you leave. And the restaurant’s interiors match its high standards of food. Each room at Brigadiers is uniquely designed to create a comfortable, social and fun environment and it is this sort of attention to detail that keeps customers coming back for more.
If you’re more after Italian than Indian then head for the art deco inspired Lina Stores, where the homemade pasta is not to be missed. Lina Stores originally started out in 1944 as an instantly popular delicatessen on Brewer Street in Soho, now it also has three bustling restaurants to its name as well – with its latest set in the heart of Bloomberg Arcade. There is a good reason that Lina Stores is still going strong after 75 years – using only the very best authentic ingredients, the restaurant aims to bring customers the very best of Italy. And it absolutely delivers – whether you want to share some delicious pasta with friends or book a quick working lunch with colleagues there is ample to choose from. For another Italian treat that will transport you right back to the country itself, head to Homeslice Pizza – depending on how much time you have (and how hungry you are) you can choose from just a few slices of pizza to the whole 20-inches. Focused on fresh, quality produce that evolves seasonally, I am yet to find someone that hasn’t fallen in love with their delicious pizzas!
To experience the tastiest noodles outside of Japan, you’d do very well to get a spot at the Japanese udon noodle bar, Koya (where there are often queues of customers lining up around the block). Udon noodle dishes are a Hip & Healthy favourite as many of them are vegetarian and vegan and even if they aren’t they often come with an option to be made vegan. The noodles are made in-house, so they’re uber-fresh and extra delicious.
In the City and need a quick but tasty lunch? One of my favourite spots is Poke House – and even though Poke bowls are traditionally Hawian, it reminds me of when I lived in LA as the interiors are so fun and vibrant and the food so fresh and naturally healthy. For those that are not familiar with Poke bowls, Poke is the main dish of traditional Hawaiian cuisine, a colourful mix of proteins, fruits and vegetables. Whether you are new to it or not – this is the place to come and enjoy it! Another great place to stop for a spot of lunch or brunch is Caravan, inspired by travel. Caravan offers some signature favourites that showcase a variety of flavours from around the world. NB. Their coffee is worth the trip alone.
Another place to stop by for an after-work drink with colleagues or friends alike is Vinoteca. Available for indoor and outdoor dining and drinks, the sharing plates are top of my list but not before I have that first sip of cold white wine – which always feels so good after a day of hard work!
The culinary scene has long been buzzing with naturally fresh and healthy Nordic dishes, and for good reason, it is utterly delicious. Ekte delivers genuine scandi dishes in droves. The brainchild of Danish-born Søren Jessen, Ekte, meaning genuine or real in Norwegian, uses only carefully sourced, sustainable ingredients and offers a varied Nordic menu with each dish taking inspiration from the Northern hemisphere. Their Saturday Bottomless Menu is one of the best ways to kick off your weekend.
For the best burgers this side of New York you have got to head to Bleecker Burger, which joined Bloomberg Arcade in 2017. This female-founded and run restaurant has gone from strength to strength, and it won’t take you long to figure out why – their commitment to creating and serving the very best burger is undertaken with the same level of passion as some Michelin star restaurants. Next time you’re craving a burger you know where to go!
