We strongly believe that women of all skin colours should have access to natural alternatives for makeup products like foundation and concealer. For too long the clean beauty market hasn’t offered enough diversity in shade choice but there are some great brands we’ve discovered that understand the importance and desire for shade inclusivity. To us, it’s a no brainer that a beauty brand, be it natural or not, offers a decent shade range. There’s no excuse. We realise it’s our responsibility to shine a light on diverse, inclusive companies so below we’ve shared 5 natural makeup brands that offer shade inclusivity.

Vapour Beauty – good for medium-full coverage foundation
Trying to fuse natural beauty with the luxury market, Vapour Beauty offer a lovely range of base products, with their Vapour Soft Focus Foundation offering medium to full coverage and a really great shade range. If you’re into a satin finish with skin-nourishing ingredients, this one is definitely worth a look.

RMS – good all-rounder
We’re huge fans of RMS and while their “Un-Cover Up” base has lots of shades to choose from, we also love their selection of highlighters and bronzing products. Most highlighters and bronzers only cater to fair skin and are way too light for deeper skin tones so if you’ve been struggling to find a good cheekbone enhancer or bronzer, RMS might have something to help you glow! Their Lip2Cheek colours also offer light and warmer shades too which would look beautiful on many skin tones. “Illusive” and “Diabolique” are lovely shades.

ILIA – Good for light-medium coverage foundations and tints
A new discovery on our hunt for a glow-y base is this hydrating skin tint with in-built SPF from Ilia. Their Super Serum Skin Tint with SPF 30 offers a beautiful, light formula that provides a “your skin but better” look and is a perfect choice if your complexion is a little on the dry side. For more of a foundation, their serum infused True Skin Foundation is a great choice if you want to do a full face of makeup and have a bit more coverage. Their concealer is also worth a look too, again, with a decent shade range.

Kosas – Good for tinted moisturiser
While Kosas’ product range is limited, their tinted moisturiser isn’t limited in shades. Their Tinted Face Oil is silky smooth, offers a velvety finish and offers surprisingly decent coverage. It’s quickly absorbed into the skin and requires minimal blending. Their Weightless Lip Colour also has some lovely shades that would look beautiful on darker skin tones. “Royal” is a gorgeous deep berry shade.

Bare Minerals – Good for multiple foundation formulas and concealer
If you like both mineral, powder-based makeup as well as stick and liquid formulas, it’s definitely worth checking out Bare Minerals. Their Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser, Hydrating Foundation Stick and Orignal Mineral Foundation SPF 15 are all fantastic choices. We also love their Full Coverage Concealer for hiding pesky blemishes and uneven skin tone. Their Gen Nude Blush is also lovely, from “You Had Me At Merlot” to “But First Coffee”.
