What do you do when you have your hair cut? Check Instagram? Read a magazine? Flick through emails on your phone? I think it is safe to say that we can all be found guilty of willing away the time when we are in the chair having our haircut. But this January, Edward James Salons have teamed up with leading hypnotherapist, Malminder Gill to create a brand new in-salon experience of mindful haircuts. Genius.

What a perfect time to meditate – you are literally already forced to sit still for half an hour or more, so why not use the time to switch off, and really reap the benefits of having a calm and peaceful moment.  Malminder Gill, known for her 100% success rate in hypnotherapy has recorded a series of meditations for various stages of the salon experience, exclusively for Edward James clients. Edward comments ‘With the fast-paced society we live in, it’s easy to forget the meaning of what a hair appointment should really be – a time to sit, relax, draw back and focus on ourselves.’ Amen to that.

Choose from:

–        Relaxing Meditation (5 minutes)

Allowing clients to reach a state of tranquillity and relaxation during a head, neck and shoulder massage upon arrival in the chair. Clients can choose a scented Aveda oil of their choice for the massage, to further enhance the experience.

–          Nurturing Meditation (10 minutes)

This is a guided meditation at the basin, where the client is walked through a process of washing away stress, tension and tightness and absorbing calmness, comfort, nurturing and loving thoughts and feelings. The client’s head is wrapped in a warm towel absorbing a treatment during this meditation.

–          Transformation Meditation (20 minutes)

A hypnotic meditation where the listener is relaxed and guided through a visualisation where they read positive affirmations to themselves, this is very uplifting, positive and happy! The transformative mediation is to listen during an extended treatment like colour or hair extensions.
