Nicola Elliott, founder of NEOM

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. Personally, I would like to event my horse!

2. Career-wise, I’d like to get back out to both New York and LA to continue working on NEOM’s growth in the USA.

3. And lastly… I’d like to launch the best year of new products yet for NEOM!

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. We launched a huge sleep campaign this year and it helped me immensely. So ritual #1 is definitely to continue making sleep a priority, as everything falls down when I don’t work on this.

2. Journal – journaling is so important!

3. Making sure that as hard as I am working, I also have a life balance. We all need to prioritise time with family and friends, or that precious moment of R&R we take to look after our own wellbeing.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/concur this year?

Cultivate more gaps in my diary for thinking time, it’s easy to get swept up in your day if you don’t plan to have time out!

Vidushi Binani, Founder of Café Volonté

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. To ideally open a few more branches of Volonté’s in 2023. As the cost of living increases, people will cut spending on their personal luxuries, but at Volonteě we aim to make the luxury of healthy food and mindful fitness accessible to all without a crazy price tag.

2. To focus a little more on personal health and wellness too. Being a founder is not easy, you are working 24/7, and are responsible for every small and big thing regarding the business that falls on the founder’s shoulders. Ironically, even while running a wellness business, I barely get the time to focus on my own health and wellbeing. I need to practice more of what I preach and find more time to let myself relax and heal.

3. To improve my writing skills and be able to finally launch a blog that I haven’t been able to due to lack of time and inability to write good content at a quick pace.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. I will try and spend one day a week focussing on finding inspiration for Volonté’s expansion. My co-founder, Haylene and I used to spend time going around different areas of London, cafe to cafe, and studio to studio finding ideas and concepts that could inspire us to create our brand.

2. I will spend 15-30 minutes every morning writing. I will try a mix of journaling, noting down my thoughts on recent nutrition trends and research papers I’ve read (another goal of mine is to read more – a way of relaxing and unwinding and will help my personal wellness goal too)

3. I signed up to do the London landmarks half marathon for charity in April 2023. Training for it will keep me motivated to maintain a good exercise and nutrition routine.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I would like to learn how to be less emotional about things business related. All businesses have ups and downs, and as a founder, I am deeply emotional about situations. On most occasions, the stress that comes with “downs”, leave a negative impact on my health. I would like to conquer the ability to manage my stress better.

Alex Glasscock, co-founder of The Ranch

1. To consciously create quality time and space to creatively be with Sue even after 33 years together.

2. To be mindful of stretching and staying limber, as well as constant improvement of my sleep patterns.

3. Work on converting fat for muscle and being lean.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. Create time and space for stretching and physical activity every day even when travelling.

2. Consciously prepare myself for sleep and reserve 8-9 hours minimum.

3. Prioritise the tasks that bring me the most satisfaction and peace each day.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I intend on running in the New York City Marathon in November 2023 in under 3:30 hours and finish feeling strong and with a smile

Dawn Russell, Founder of 8Greens

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. While I do not believe in resolutions, For 2023, personally I hope to laugh more and see more friends. I have worked too hard for the last five years creating 8Greens. While it has been a huge mission in my lifetime to get real greens to all, my personal life has suffered.

2. On a completely internal level, I want to beat my tennis partner at one full game. She has killed me this 2022. While I feel happiness for her win, I want to win!

3. Thirdly, I want 8Greens to continue growing in the mass-market retail space. We have surpassed all expectations with Amazon and we want to build upon that. Mass market is very important to me because my mission with 8Greens is to get real greens to anyone anywhere anytime.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. I am actively planning more time with friends and have re-established my nightly meditation routine.

2. As for tennis, I find if I breathe during my shots more, I relax and win more!

3. 8Greens is well on its way so more of the same.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I would like to react less and act more. With so much coming at me all the time with children, work, husband, etc, it is hard to not react, react, react. I hope to step aside more and consciously decide how I want to act and do so. And, trust what is meant to be will happen. As my in-laws motto says, Che Sara Sara…..more of that please .

Sarah Lindsay, co-founder of Roar Fitness

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. Personally, new pursuits. I am going to regularly put myself out of my comfort zone and keep an open mind by always being in the process of learning something new. Currently, that is wake surfing!

2. Professionally, to make Roar 4 Dubai – our fourth gym, which opens in Dubai in January 2023 – the number one private personal training facility in Dubai.

3. Thirdly, keep providing and creating real career opportunities and nurturing personal growth within the Roar Team. Mentorship is a real passion of mine.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. I write down my goals. It’s a habit from my years in Olympic sport. I write down the end goal and break down what I’m going to do to get there to short-term and progress goals.

2. I give myself time to be healthy and creative. Without feeling my best and optimising myself physically my head isn’t clear to truly think.

3. I never give up. This is what makes the difference and makes things happen. Keep going, every day, no matter what the setbacks. Until you quit, you’re still on the journey.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I have big personal and professional goals for developing business but what I will find the most difficult is splitting my time between London and Dubai. I am very close to my family who I see on a weekly basis so spending time away to launch Roar 4 is emotionally a little difficult. I have a practical/ logistical plan and then also a personal/ emotional plan to look after myself during this time. It’s definitely better to recognise and plan rather than wait for sadness, guilt and other emotions to build up and suddenly hit you.

Alex Nicholl, Director and Co-Founder of BXR

What are your three main goals for 2023?

1. Continue the expansion of BXR both here in the UK & Internationally, BXR aims to open in Battersea Powers Station and internationally in Mykonos & Miami …

2. Find more time for myself –my work-life balance is not balanced and I need to take more time enjoying my life and my family and friends.

3. Developing more holistic elements into my weekly routine. We all live a very fast-paced life and I certainly do not take the time to meditate and bring slower practices into my life like yoga & Pilates.

What are three rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. Stay disciplined, Focused and set realistic goals. Wake up early and do your best to seize your day – I function best by getting up early and getting my morning cardio out the way before I start work.

2. Have a good team and family around you to help support you in your goals

3. Embrace failure along the way – we learn from our mistakes

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/concur this year?

Complete the ironman 70.3 in Lanzarote in March

Irene Forte, Founder of Irene Forte Skincare

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. 2022 was a big year for the business; we grew by 135% on the previous year; launched with some important retailers like Bon Marché, Ludwig Beck Bergdorf Goodman, Saks 5th Avenue, BlueMercury, Farfetch; our team doubled in size and we set up a US subsidiary; we achieved B Corp status, etc. 2023 is all about building on this success, strengthening different areas of the business further.

2. To successfully launch our new A* product that we’ve been working on for a number of years; Phytomelatonin Rejuvenating Serum with Dr. Ferri’s 70% APM™.

3. To be more balanced, and be able to dedicate more to my personal life.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. To implement points one and two, it’s really about strengthening different areas of the business, and having a talented and growing team to support this. By having a team that complements my skill set and also supports the business challenges, I can also dedicate more to my personal life.

2. I’m planning on taking more time off on the weekends or late in the evening, which will also give me more time for personal care.

3. I didn’t move as much as I used to in 2022, and daily exercise is a human need. I plan to move at least 20 minutes per day. I also read very little in 2022 (despite studying literature at university); I’m planning on picking up a few more books in 2023!

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I’m keen to raise capital in 2023 in order to supercharge our business growth (and have more support).

Sadie Reid, Founder of Hip & Healthy

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. To meditate for 5-20 minutes a day. I have been told by more people than I can count that it will have a huge impact on my overall health. This will be really hard for me as I tend to run through the day, let alone walk, so stopping altogether is a huge challenge – but I’m up for it.

2. On a career level – I’d love Hip & Healthy to finally launch a podcast and I’d also love us to do more events – just getting us back out there meeting our readers again after the last two years will be mega fulfilling.

3. Don’t sweat the small stuff – I have been working on this for years but 2023 is the year it’s really going to sink in – I hope!

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. Therapy is key for me in making sure I am taking the right steps to become my best self.

2. I have actually been also working with a life coach on the business goals to make sure that they are measurable and things are being actioned.

3. PLANNING – it’s so important to make sure that the important things are prioritised.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

I would LOVE to overcome my fear of flying – I still fly but I literally hate it. I’d love to start loving it like my husband and eldest son do!

Sam Preston, Co-Founder of Palm Rock Retreats

What are your 3 main goals for 2023?

1. Dedicate quality time to spending with friends and family, and participating in social activities that don’t involve drinking alcohol.

2. Journal every morning: which will include my thoughts from the previous day and goals and intentions for the day ahead.

3. Manage my time better around facets of the businesses – learn to better prioritise tasks in order of urgency and importance.

What are 3 rituals you’ll implement to ensure you reach your goals?

1. My ritual will be more of a rule – one weekend on, one weekend off. That rule in turn will cut my yearly alcohol intake down by 50%, which will have amazing effects on organ health, brain function and sleep. It will also allow me to appreciate my time away from work without ingesting alcohol.

2. Setting the same time each day to begin the ‘morning routine’. Which will include cold water therapy (one-minute hot shower into one minute cold), 30-minute walk outside and journaling before I open my computer. Having a consistent daily time is reported to help our sleep/wake cycle.

3. Time blocking – this is a tool I implemented at the end of 2022, where you segregate time in the day for different tasks. You can then prioritise work through the week and manage time more effectively. Time-blocking dairies are available online and are really easy to use.

Is there anything you’d like to overcome/conquer this year?

It has been my first year of owning and operating a business and we are expecting to expand our team in 2023. I’m looking forward to overcoming the inevitable complications that come with hiring employees, but feel privileged to be able to create work opportunities during these times, and expand the reach of Palm Rock Retreats, enabling us to support more people in leading a healthy, positive and motivated lifestyle.
