Hip & Healthy Promotion

Temptation is all around us every day, and somehow they all seem to magnify each time we know we have to resist them. So, when dieting, how do we avoid binging? How do we say no to some of our favourite foods without feeling like we’re punishing ourselves?

It was never going to be easy, but there are some things you can do to help combat those crafty cravings, and keep your eyes on the prize.

Think often about the end results
Having a clear goal about what you want to achieve from your new lifestyle will really help you on those days when you’re not feeling so committed. Turn to fitness blogs and sites like Tumblr for inspirational pictures and quotes to make you see how it will all be worth it. Don’t be afraid to keep a record of pictures of people with bodies that you aspire to achieve to keep you focused, too, as this can be a really useful tactic.

Think about why you’re doing what you’re doing
Getting fit and healthy isn’t just about looking good – it’s about feeling good too. Focus on how much extra energy you’ll have, how you are increasing your life expectancy and reducing your risk of conditions like heart disease and diabetes. Of course, looking good is a big part of it and those benefits will be really obvious!

Avoid making comparisons with others
Comparing how you look to celebrities and other people may leave you feeling unmotivated, as their situation will most likely be completely different to yours. Remember, most celebrities have a whole team of people dedicated solely to making them look good, so don’t beat yourself up of you don’t quite match up. You could however take a tip out of a lot of celebrity’s books by researching some of the best supplements for weight loss.

Find an exercise regime that you like
Exercising doesn’t necessarily mean sweating it out all evening at the gym. The gym doesn’t work for everyone, so don’t worry if it doesn’t work for you. Why not join a club or a class instead? Or even just don some running gear and take to the local park? Find a workout that works with your interests and lifestyle to give you the highest chance of sticking to a regular and worthwhile routine.

Find healthy snacks that you actually enjoy
Snacking is often one of the triggers that lead people into temptation and breaking their healthy diets. If you find it difficult to resist each time someone hands out the biscuits, find yourself a tasty alternative that’s not just your standard salad or fruit. Companies like Saviour Snacks for example provide different and unusual snacks that you can order to your door or work. Each box you receive contains three packs of healthy foods, ranging from anything like nuts and seeds, to popcorn and energy bars.
