When it comes to finding that elusive sweet spot between luxury holiday and a family-friendly staycation, the new Pods at Carbis Bay might just be the answer. As we arrived with our 4-year-old son, the first thing that struck us was the sense of tranquillity. Each pod is discreetly nestled within its own walled garden, creating a sense of privacy and space that’s rare in family accommodation. But don’t let the term pod fool you, these are no basic camping huts. Think gorgeous linens, rainfall showers, and stunning interiors. Our Family Pod was both spacious and beautiful: with two double bedrooms with en-suite and a double and a cleverly laid out open-plan living space complete with log-effect fire and kitchen. 

Private Hot Tubs & Stargazing Nights

Our days started with coffee and an amazing breakfast delivery from Carbis Bay with fresh bread, pastries, ham, salmon, cheese; everything you could possibly want to start the day in the best possible way. We spent our days walking to St Ives for a lovely lunch or to walk around the town (which is a beautiful walk from the Pods) or to Carbis Bay to enjoy the stunning beaches and evenings… Well, let’s just say my son’s favourite past was his first taste of toasted marshmallows by the fire pit.  

The fully enclosed garden meant our son could run around while we relaxed, which is always a major plus for anyone travelling with kids.

Wellness, Cornish-Style

Health and wellness are at the heart of the Carbis Bay ethos. Guests at POD St Ives have access to the Nest Spa Garden (yes, there’s an actual spa garden!) where you’ll find a private sauna, outdoor shower, and ice bath ( I am a huge fan of ice baths, so this was a big plus for me). I snuck away one morning for a massage at the C Bay Spa at the main hotel, and came back feeling like I’d been on a retreat and had some much-needed me time. 

Effortless Family Dining

Carbis Bay has your dining needs dialled in. You can pre-stock your pod with locally sourced treats, enjoy wood-fired pizzas delivered to your door, or head to the hotel’s beachside restaurants for something more formal. Our family favourite? Grazing boards under the stars in the pods while our little one snoozed away.
