September is one of my favourite times of year. There’s something about that first hint of autumn in the air that makes me genuinely excited for the season ahead. The mornings feel a little crisper, the evenings start drawing in and, suddenly, I’m ready for jumpers, boots, cosy food and all those little rituals that make autumn feel so good.
It’s also the time of year when I naturally start craving a bit more routine. After the long, lighter days of summer, September feels like a chance to get back into the things that make me feel good and, for me, that’s very much what our Back To You focus is about. Nothing too worthy or overwhelming, just getting back to yourself and enjoying the everyday things that make life feel good.
Here are a few things I’m loving as we head into my favourite season.

The perfect jumper
Jumper season is quite possibly my favourite season. I genuinely long for that first day when you can reach for a chunky knit without overheating, and this Hilary jumper from Vic & Bert is exactly the sort of piece I want to live in this autumn.
I love an easy knit that you can throw on with anything and this has that lovely relaxed feel that makes it an instant wardrobe favourite. There’s something about putting on a proper jumper for the first time after summer that just feels like autumn has officially arrived.
Boots for whatever autumn throws at you
Autumn in the UK can mean sunshine one minute and torrential rain the next, so I’m always on the hunt for a boot that can actually handle it. These Tretorn Avan Hybrid boots are waterproof and practical without looking overly outdoorsy, making them perfect for autumn walks, school runs and generally getting caught in whatever the British weather has in store.
I also love having a pair of boots I don’t have to worry about. If it’s muddy, raining or I’m heading out for a long walk, I want something practical that still feels like part of my outfit rather than something I’ve reluctantly put on because of the weather.

A little extra cosiness
I’m a big believer that a beautiful rug can completely change a room, and I’ve become a real fan of Ruggable. I think the quality is so good and there are so many beautiful designs that actually look and feel like proper, considered homeware rather than something purely practical.
I love this soft blue tufted design. It has that gorgeous, slightly relaxed feel that works so well as we head into autumn and instantly makes a room feel softer and more inviting. I’m all for anything that makes home feel a little more cosy as the evenings start drawing in, and this is such an easy way to do it.

The autumn skin reset
My skin definitely knows when the seasons are changing. As we head into autumn, I always find myself wanting to give it a little more care and bring some more nourishing products back into my routine.
Dr Hauschka’s Renew & Activate Ampoules Night Treatment is the sort of product I like using when my skin needs a bit of extra attention. I love the idea of an overnight treatment doing the work while I sleep, particularly as we move away from summer and towards colder, drier days.

My new autumn scent
I always associate autumn with richer, warmer fragrances. Come September, I naturally start moving away from lighter summer scents and craving something with a little more depth.
Ambre Royal by Ormonde Jayne has that beautiful warm, sophisticated feel that I love at this time of year. I’m a big believer that fragrance can completely change your mood, and there’s something about a richer scent that instantly makes an autumn evening feel a little more special.
My Aga is coming back to life
One of the things I love most about autumn is getting the Aga back on. It’s one of those very simple seasonal rituals that I genuinely look forward to. Suddenly the kitchen becomes the warmest, cosiest room in the house and I’m back to cooking the sort of food that you can leave for hours and forget about.
There is nothing better than putting something into the bottom oven in the morning, letting it cook slowly for hours and then coming back to the most incredible, comforting dish. Slow-cooked stews, roasted vegetables, soups, casseroles… autumn food is all about letting good ingredients do the work. The whole ritual of it feels wonderfully comforting.
The Farm Table by Julius Roberts is firmly on my autumn reading list for exactly this reason. It’s full of seasonal recipes and beautiful inspiration for making the most of good, simple ingredients. Basically, the sort of cookbook I want permanently sitting on my kitchen worktop.

The perfect pair of jeans
There’s something about September that makes me want to reset my wardrobe too. Out go the barely-there summer pieces and in come denim, knits, loafers and boots.
I’m loving the new Crawford Straight Leg Jean from With Nothing Underneath. The blue wash feels fresh enough for the tail end of summer but works perfectly with all those autumn layers I’m already planning.
I’m increasingly drawn to simple, really well-made pieces that you can wear in lots of different ways, and a great pair of jeans is one of those wardrobe staples I never get bored of.

The cleanser I’m reaching for
Finally, a good cleanser is one of those everyday staples I’m always happy to discover. The Super Facialist Vitamin C Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil feels particularly good for that transition into autumn, when I want something nourishing at the end of the day while still properly taking off makeup and SPF.
There’s something quite satisfying about a really good evening cleanse. It’s one of those small moments where you can properly switch off, wash the day away and get ready for bed.

Getting my everyday routine back on track
September is also when I start thinking about the things I can do to make my everyday routine feel a little more organised again. I’m not someone who wants a complicated supplement regime with endless bottles lined up in the kitchen, so I really like the idea of an all-in-one daily multivitamin that can simply become part of your routine.
EverydayMe from GP Nutrition contains 27 vitamins, minerals and nutrients, including magnesium, vitamin C, D3, B vitamins, zinc and iron, alongside antioxidant-rich plant extracts. It’s designed as an all-round daily nutritional support, with benefits spanning energy, mental clarity, immune resilience, skin, hair and nails and overall wellbeing.
For me, this is exactly the sort of thing that makes sense in September. Rather than trying to overhaul everything at once, it’s about getting back into those simple daily habits that make you feel like you’re looking after yourself again.
September always feels like a little reset to me. Not a dramatic overhaul or a list of things I suddenly need to achieve, but simply getting back to the routines, clothes, food and little rituals that make me feel most like myself.
And if that means putting the Aga back on, pulling on a big cosy jumper, cooking something delicious and lighting a candle a little earlier in the evening, I’m very much ready for it.
