I’ve never loved New Year’s resolutions. They demand instant transformation and somehow make me feel behind before the month has even properly begun. This year, I’m doing something different. No pressure. No “new me”. Just January, gently. Instead of overhauling my life, alongside my dry January, I am leaning into small rituals. Little moments of joy, comfort and care that make the days feel softer as we ease into the new year. Here’s what I’m welcoming into my January.
Taking Time to Cook (Properly)
My mum has always had this wonderful habit of buying a cookbook and cooking every single recipe from cover to cover and somehow, everything she makes is delicious. Inspired by her, 2026 is the year I stop rushing meals and start actually enjoying the process of cooking. I’m trialling more recipes (with patience), and investing in cookware that makes the whole experience feel easier and healthier. Our Place’s Titanium Pro Cookware Duo is my current obsession. Lightweight, non-toxic and made with titanium, which is naturally durable and doesn’t leach into food. Cooking feels calmer, cleaner and a little more intentional, which is exactly the energy I want this year.
Wearing White Cashmere (Without Saving It for “Best”)
As a mum, white clothing can feel… brave. But this January, I’m choosing to wear the white cashmere anyway, spills, sticky fingers and all. Because I want to enjoy beautiful things in real life, not just admire them hanging safely in the wardrobe. This LilySilk boxy cashmere sweater feels soft, cosy and quietly luxurious, but also easy enough to actually live in. There’s something liberating about not being afraid of getting a little messy and about choosing comfort and joy over perfection. It’s a small act of rebellion, but one that feels very “January, gently”.
Upgrading My Beauty Tech (And Loving It)
This year, I’m upgrading my beauty tech and I finally understand why a high-quality LED mask makes all the difference. The Correxiko LED Light Therapy Mask isn’t just another at-home gadget: it’s lightweight, fully adjustable, and delivers multiple wavelengths and with 3 settings (for anti-aging, brightening and full spectrum) in one sleek device, its my skincare hero. Unlike cheaper masks that are uncomfortable or deliver inconsistent light, this one actually sits well, stays in place, and makes me want to use it regularly, which is when the real benefits happen. My January ritual is simple: mask on and ten minutes of stillness. It’s the mask that turns a quick treatment into a ritual that feels indulgent and effective.
Pilates, But Make It Comfortable
Movement in January doesn’t need to be intense, it just needs to feel good. I’m recommitting to regular Pilates sessions, with a focus on strength, posture and slow progress. The Onyx Pilates mat has made a bigger difference than I expected. Cushioned enough to protect joints, supportive enough to feel stable, it’s one of those small upgrades that makes showing up feel easier. And in January, easier is better.
The Ultimate Me-Time (No Guilt Attached)
January evenings are made for slow, indulgent baths, the kind that let the world pause for a few moments. I’m rotating between De Mamiel Bath Soaks Trio, which feel like tiny rituals in a bottle, each one carefully crafted to calm, restore or uplift depending on my mood, and Ishga’s Seaweed Bath, rich with minerals that make my skin feel nourished and my mind quietly grounded. There’s something so calming about sinking into warm water, scent filling the air, and just being, no phone, no to-do list, just a moment that feels unapologetically mine.
Lighting the Candle (Just for Me)
This year, I’m officially done with saving things “for special occasions”. The good candle? It’s being lit on a random Tuesday, just because. Baobab Collection’s Heritage Villers candle has become part of my evening ritual. A few minutes of flame, scent and stillness feels surprisingly grounding. Small joy. Big impact.
Face Masks: My Favourite Form of Self-Care
If January had a love language, it would be face masks. They’re my favourite way to slow down and signal to myself that it’s time to rest.
On my rotation for some serious self care and skin tlc:
- Evolve Beauty Bio-Retinol Gold Mask when my skin needs glow and comfort
- Niance Hydrating Mask Intensify when it’s feeling dry or stressed
- Sarah Chapman 3D Moisture Infusion Mask for instant plumpness and hydration
Mask on, candle lit, bath running, ritual complete.
