Carrying African roots with a Brtish attitude, LIHA is the natural skincare brand, new on our radar! It is a tradition for Yoruba (Nigerian) young women to be taught the art of creating beautifying oils, soaps and lotions from the nuts, tree bark and plants. Co-founder, Liha, is from Nigerian heritage and learned the art of the craft from her Grandmother. Along with her mother’s background as an English aromatherapist, she naturally began to blend the two practises together!

The story of LIHA began when Liha would ask Abi (co-founder #2) to bring back different ingredients when travelling, especially Nigerian Shea from her father’s town and the rest was history. As natural beauty has increasingly become people’s preference, LIHA has proven it has a place in the beauty community growing from strength to strength. Now stocked on Net-A-Porter, the company has proven that natural, organic and vegan skincare can be luxurious. They source all their natural ingredients ethically and sustainably whilst the packaging is also recyclable and reusable.

LIHA offers a small range of beautifully crafted skincare hero products…

The Idan Oil is their heavenly moisturising oil, blended using natural, cold-pressed coconut oil and tuberose flower. The incredible scent is locked in through the traditional African process of enfleurage. We love this product as it is so diverse, slather it on your body as a moisturiser, leave in your hair as a deep conditioner or massage into your face as an oil.

The Gold Shea Butter is every African woman’s beauty secret to smooth and silky skin. This cult multi-purpose moisturiser is your answer to dryness, stretch marks, scars, nappy balm or as a base for making your own natural cosmetics. The waxy balm has a naturally high concentration of Vitamin A and E, which is incredible for excema suffers. Do not be put off by its earthy smell, it is just a testament to how naturally the Nigerian Gold Shea really is.

The Ivory Shea Butter is similar to the Gold Shea Butter although it has a light crumbly texture and is slightly lighter in colour. The scent is also less intense as it has a natural nutty, vanilla, honey-like fragrance. Like the Gold Shea Butter, it is known for its ‘‘cure-all’’ reputation.

The Ose Gidi Soap is the perfect way to give your skin a deep cleanse and exfoliation without stripping it of its natural oils. This handmade black soap is packed with antioxidants from the Moringa which improves the appearance and radiance of skin, vitamin A which helps build collagen in the skin, vitamin C to help reduce fine lines, vitamin E which is anti-inflammatory, vitamin B6, magnesium, potassium and iron! Another hidden gem that is found in this wonder bar of soap is palmarosa oil which is antiseptic, antiviral, hydrating and soothes irritated skin.

The Queen Idia Candle is made from sustainable coconut oil with base notes of Geranium and Frankincense and top notes of Lavender and hibiscus. Inspired by the famous Yoruba Queen Idia, the candle is a symbol of female empowerment. This divine smelling candle is clean burning so will not ruin your walls with black soot!
