Welcome to the 3rd (and last!) instalment of our September Savings Series! We’re talking items to invest in now to help you save in the long run!

When you’re trying to save your pennies, buying new things may seem counterintuitive. However, investing in certain items can help you to save drastically down the line and so it is worth taking the hit! For those of you trying to be more money-savvy, we’re sharing some must-have investments to help you to be kinder to your bank account in months and years to come.

S’well Bottle: Rather than buying plastic water bottles on the daily and contributing to the ever-growing problem of plastic pollution, invest in a reusable water bottle! Our favourites are undoubtedly S’well bottles, as they keep drinks cold for 24 hours and warm for 12 and are available in a variety of stylish prints. So, whether you’re heading for a day at the office or back-to-back lectures at University, you won’t have to worry about staying hydrated.

Recipe book: When you have incredible recipe inspiration sitting in your kitchen, the urge to eat out or order something on Deliveroo will instantly decrease. Although eating out is the perfect weekend treat, it is much kinder to your purse to plan ahead and complete a weekly food shop and having a recipe book can help you do just that. With over 150 recipes designed to promote gut health and boost beauty, we love The Beauty Chef cookbook, available to buy here.

Tupperware: The chances are, you’ve probably got Tupperware hiding somewhere deep in your kitchen, but if not, investing in Tupperware is a must. Prepping your meals and popping them in a Tupperware box will help you to resist the temptation to buy lunch out when you are on the go. Our top Tupperware tip is to cook double the amount of dinner the night before and save half of it for lunch (if you can resist)! We love Life Factory for glass containers minus the plastic!

Yoga mat: If you want to save money without sacrificing getting your sweat on, working out from home is an amazing solution. Rather than sticking to the floor or slipping on the carpet, invest in a yoga mat to keep at home. We love Kriya Veda premium yoga mats, which are odourless, hypoallergenic and biodegradable. They are also super lightweight and cushioned for ultimate comfort levels! Just try not to fall asleep during the workout… Shop here.

Basic gym equipment: Another must-must have for home workouts is gym equipment. Buying basic equipment to have readily available, rather than paying for a monthly gym membership, is a sure way to save money in the long run. We’d recommend a kettlebell, a few dumbbells and resistance bands to get you started. Working out at home requires a bit of extra motivation, so workout guides such as Kayla Itsines BBG guide, or YouTube channels such as Boho Beautiful, can give you that much-needed workout inspo.

Portable Cutlery/Accessories
Found yourself in the middle of a food market wanting to indulge in some gastronomical delights but don’t want to use single-use plastic cutlery? We hear ya. Invest in your own portable set with a case so you can carry them around in your bag (no matter how big or small!) for food that needs to be eaten on the go! We love Joseph Joseph’s stylish GoEat set! We also recommend getting yourself some titanium straws if you’re a smoothie addict like us! Same principle, same planet-friendly purpose.
