Frida Redknapp – What I Actually Feed My Family: Recipes From a Big, Hungry Household

Frida Redknapp is a mother of five and if you’ve ever tried to feed that many children, you’ll understand the daily logistical feat. Frida has four children from her previous marriage and her youngest son Raphael, born in 2021 with husband Jamie. Factor in the blended family’s six boys across both sides and you have a household where food disappears at a startling rate. “Teenage boys eat a lot,” Frida says, laughing. “My teen boys have two breakfasts, two lunches. Always.”

Feeding a household this size well, not just filling plates, but genuinely nourishing everyone, is what inspired Frida to create Frood. But the recipes that fuelled that business have been feeding her family long before they were packaged and stocked at M&S and Ocado. Here’s a look at what actually lands on the Redknapp table…

The morning non-negotiable: the family smoothie

Every single morning, without exception, Frida makes what she calls the family smoothie. Organic kefir blended with frozen berries, Manuka honey, and soaked chia seeds — poured into four or five glasses and left on the counter for everyone to grab. It’s an effortless way to get probiotics and fibre into the whole family before the day has even properly started. The brand she uses is the organic Biotiful kefir, and the soaked chia seeds are a constant — she adds them to almost everything.

Try it: blend organic kefir with a handful of frozen mixed berries, a teaspoon of soaked chia seeds, and a drizzle of Manuka honey. Follow @frida_redknapp on Instagram for her exact method.

Breakfast: stuffed pancakes and waffles

Frida makes pancakes or waffles almost every day — but don’t mistake these for an indulgent treat. She loads them with cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs, soaked chia seeds, lemon zest, vanilla, almond flour, gluten-free oat flour, and a glug of extra virgin olive oil.  Her peanut butter pancakes with berry ‘jelly’ yogurt, a popular recipe on her Instagram — have become a household favourite and can be made gluten and dairy free. A breakfast range including high-fibre pancakes is also coming soon from Frood.
