With Race for Life events postponed until autumn due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions, Cancer Research UK is encouraging the nation to keep active and unite against cancer this April by signing up to Race for Life at Home, in partnership with Tesco.

Like most charities, Cancer Research UK has been hit hard by COVID-19 and as a result is predicting a devastating £300m drop in income over the next three years. This could put future medical breakthroughs at risk. Race for Life at Home asks people to run, walk or jog 5k in their local neighbourhood this April and raise money to help Cancer Research UK continue its life-saving research. Anyone and everyone can take part; as individuals or in small, socially distanced groups. Sign up is £5 and participants will receive a fundraising pack and medal.

Race for Life at Home will culminate in a live stream event on Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life Facebook page on the morning of Saturday 24 April. The virtual event will include an energiser from a fitness expert as well as inspirational messages from people affected by cancer and a minute’s reflection for loved ones.

Participants are then invited to run, walk or jog 5k either straight after the live stream or a convenient time for them in April and fundraise for life-saving research.
