As part of our mission to become plastic free in our kitchens, our chefs and bee keeper have developed our own bees wax wrap using wax from our onsite hives. This easy to make alternative to plastic film, is routinely used in the kitchen in Richmond and by sharing our knowledge, we would like to encourage you to do the same at home.
During 2019 we also stepped up our war on food waste with a number of initiatives designed to reduce our impact on the environment. Using spent olive oil that is brought back from restaurant tables and ordinarily thrown away, we looked for ways the re-use this expensive ingredient. Together with wax from our hives we have made a miraculous furniture polish that is now used to revive the antique wooden tables in our glasshouse restaurant.
During this practical, hands on workshop we will demonstrate how to make this incredibly inexpensive treatment so that you can restore shine, gloss and colour, yielding beautiful results to your wooden furniture, salad bowls, and chopping boards at home.
Under our guidance, you will make your own reusable plastic free wrap in a variety of sizes. You will also receive a tub of the bees wax and olive oil polish to take home, together with a step by step guide and recipes for both.
