TV personality, content creator, and proud mum to six-month-old Eva, Emily Blackwell reveals the products and practices that get her through the day.
At the moment, the first thing I do is feed Eva. Once I’ve done that, I make a coffee, which is very much needed after a sleepless night! I can’t go about the day without my morning coffee. I also add collagen powder to it, and then I have my supplements. I take the BioCare breastfeeding supplement, Seeking Health’s Optimal Magnesium, and vitamin K2. I also put vitamin D drops in a big Stanley Cup every day, which is a great way to make sure I’m drinking enough water, especially as I’m breastfeeding.
I drink my coffee back in bed with Eva on my knees and we have a little giggle and a chit chat and make a plan for the day. She’ll go down for her first nap around 8am, and that’s when I have time to take a two-second shower. Maybe three, if I’m lucky. I then whizz around the house, clean the kitchen, and get everything in order for the day, including myself!
Breakfast is usually boiled eggs with toast and smoked salmon. Around midday, instead of having a second coffee, I now have a bone broth. It really helped me when I was pregnant and was one of the only things that stopped me feeling sick in my first trimester. It’s full of collagen and loads of goodness. I use the Borough Broth beef bone broths. They’re on the more expensive side, but they are just amazing.
In between Eva’s naps, we’ll do some playtime, and then during her second nap at 10am, I get on with some work. I’m definitely a morning person. I can get so much done in the morning, and I’m so much more productive than in the afternoons. Post lunch, my concentration span goes. Pretty rapidly. So, any work I need to do, I have to get done in the morning.
Twice a week, my mum comes up early in the morning to look after Eva, and that’s when I try and do a Pilates class or get 10k steps in. I get an hour to myself to be with my own thoughts. It’s not so much about the working out, it’s about my mental state and having time to think and breathe. But I don’t stress if it doesn’t happen, I’m quite relaxed about it. That’s life!
I try not to wash my hair too often, so I have a hair wash day once a week. That tends to be at the weekend when I get more than two seconds to have a shower, and Jordan can look after Eva.
I’m not going to lie, now I’m a mum, there’s limited time for skincare. I used to do a full skincare routine, but now, it’s more of a slap on and run kind of situation [laughs]. I tend to just use a moisturiser – right now it’s the Drunk Elephant whipped cream one – and I use the Ilia caffeine under-eye cream. Give me all the caffeine to brighten those dark old bags from the lack of sleep!
I have quite dry skin, and I swear by organic virgin coconut oil. I put it all over my legs when I’m on holiday and I even use it on Eva. It smells amazing and it’s so hydrating, I just love it.
Drunk Elephant ‘LaLa Retro Whipped Cream’ – £58
Ilia ‘Bright Start Activated Eye Cream’ – £47
Makeup-wise, I’m all about concealer, and lots of it. I love the NARS ‘Radiant Creamy Concealer’ and Charlotte Tilbury’s under-eye brightening one. I feel naked if my brows aren’t filled in a little bit, and I use the Bobbi Brown double-ended eyebrow pencil. I also love the MAC ‘Whirl’ by lip liner, which I’ve used for years, and Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Pillow Talk’, obviously!
I always have a lip liner and concealer in my bag, a sachet of collagen, and whichever lip gloss happens to be in that bag. I have a selection that never leave my handbags. My signature scent is Le Labo’s ‘Another 13’. If you haven’t smelled it, you need to. It’s amazing. I love a strong scent, and I love how if someone walks past me wearing it, I can tell right away. That’s so important when you’re wearing fragrance.
NARS ‘Radiant Creamy Concealer’ – £28
Bobbi Brown ‘Precise Brow Pencil’ – £20
Le Labo ‘Another 13’ – £234
After I bathe Eva, I try to put her to bed. Try being the big word here, because it often doesn’t work! Then I’ll make some dinner, which tends to be something quite healthy like meat or fish with veg or a homemade pasta. It really depends on how much time I have. I also make extra so Jordan and I have something for lunch the next day.
Diet is a huge thing, as is taking supplements and drinking water. It’s all about balance, so Monday to Friday I’ll try and be healthier, and on the weekend, I have what I want. When you’re a new mum and you’re on the go all the time, you need to really make sure you’re replenishing, and I’m really mindful of that.

If I have time in the evening, I do a cleanse, moisturiser, and facial oil. I try a lot of cleansers, but I love the Elemis Cleansing balm – I really don’t think you can beat it. It’s just so buttery and gorgeous and I love how my skin feels after. I also use the Ilia one in the shower, which is great for taking off makeup as it’s quite foamy. I also really like the Elemis and iS Clinical serums.
I’m not going to lie, my guilty pleasure used to be Botox, but because I’m breastfeeding, that’s off the cards. Since not having it, Jordan says I look better, and I actually agree – so I’m not sure if I’ll do it again. Which is quite interesting – I never thought I’d say that! I’d like to keep it more natural.
I also love going shopping and buying myself things I absolutely don’t need! Not expensive things, I could just be going into Zara or buying little things for the home. I also love a good blow-dry, having a massage, or getting my nails done. I try to treat myself once a week.
I’m a very organised person. Having a routine and doing things that make me happy helps me feel less stress and overwhelmed during the day. I love going on walks, I love having my coffee, and I love sitting down in the morning and writing a to-do list. I love a list – I get so much joy from ticking things off. I used to have a planner where I wrote three things I’m grateful for, my to-do list, and at the end of the day, something good that happened that day. Just doing little things like that really help.
