Editor’s Checklist: 10 things I am Loving, Shopping and Doing, this September

“September is the January of fashion” was said by legendary fashion editor Candy Pratts Price, in the 2009 documentary film The September Issue. And I would argue that wellness too has a moment at this time of year. With the summer holidays in the rear-view mirror, not only do we pack away the birkenstocks (unless, of course, they are shearling in which case, they can stay out for at least two more months) but we also start dreaming about old routines, new-instated wellness rituals and picking up exercise again. I love September for this chance to start again mid-year and focus on what feels important to me as well as discovering my old autumn wardrobe and adding a few more pieces to it to replace the inevitably moth-eaten cashmere that didn’t make its way into protective packaging (a regret I have every year!).

Welcome to September, where we get to make fresh starts and embrace new trends as well as discovering all the old faves this season brings…

Adding to cart: Sezane’s Marceau Loafer

For the ultimate in “back to work” footwear, Sezane’s Marceau Loafers are understated, chic, go with anything AND look very similar to SAINT LAURENT’s Le Loafer Cassandre, which are tres cher and out of my price range so these are a great second option. The only downside is that they aren’t made for wet weather (of which we are fairly used to come September) but maybe we will have an Indian Summer – in which case I shall be wearing them non-stop.

3 Books I want to Read

Updating My Skincare: Raeso Cocoon Ceramide Cream

I love the heat but my skin has definitely had a hard time dealing with it – especially as I love to exercise, which means I sweat – a lot! Over the summer I have suffered a number of breakouts that needed attention. So I stripped back my skincare and invested in a new moisturiser – the Raeso Cocoon Ceramide Cream – a 100% plant based and organic. It’s natural fragrance is totally delicious, which is down to the Mānuka honey, alpine rosehip, and avocado oil ingredients that help lock in moisture. Plus it isn’t too heavy which is having a very good effect on my skin.  I will absolutely be buying more from this brand!

In My Farmer’s Market Era:

Eating: Cosmic Dealer Chocolate

Utterly delicious, a little bit healthy and totally guilt-free. Cosmic Dealer uses 80% less sugar than other sweet treats and is sweetened only with dates, and nothing artificial. I will be stocking up on the variety boxes!

Wishing For: Sand Beige Prada Route Bag, Large

Any bag that can fit my laptop, some snacks, and my diary (yes I still have a physical diary) and still remain stylish gets a huge nod from me. This bag from Prada is the perfect Autumn accessory that is practical too.

Booking: A stay at Saltmoore

The 6-hour trip it will take me to drive to North Yorkshire will be worth it as I am so looking forward to a stay at the wellness-led sanctuary, Saltmoore. Nestled on the North Yorkshire Coastline, next to the heather-clad North York Moors, you can choose to spend a morning embarking on a refreshing north sea swim or a long walk and then return to the hotel for a Wildsmith (my fave) spa treatment. Followed by something delicious at one of their seasonally-led restaurants.

Lighting: Dyptique’s Figuier Candle

One of the things I love the most about reaching September is the permission it brings to get cosy again. And nothing says “cosy” like beautifully scented candles lit and dotted around the home to provide a sense of warmth and calm. I am going to treat myself to this one from Dyptique as I love the green clay pot it comes in and am convinced that three wicks are always better than one.
